Going viral for her rendition of Hillsong Worship's "What A Beautiful Name", Wilson caught the attention of a talent scout, and thereby being offered to join Capitol Christian Music Group. In 2021, she released her debut single "My Jesus", a statement of faith, a song inspired by her testimony following the death of her older brother. In a video testimony, she shares that point in time amidst feelings of devastation, brought her closer to God.
"It was such a dark moment in my life," Anne recalls. I heard God say to me, clear as day, ‘Anne, are you going to trust Me?"
Placing her trust into God, she sat down at the piano and sung "What A Beautiful Name" by Hillsong Worship. Her parents asked her to sing the song at her brother's funeral. "When I came to know Him, I quickly realized that Jesus is a personal Jesus. Through losing Jacob, I saw that more than ever. Jesus was specifically there with us through every single moment. He was carrying us through every single second of tragedy, loss and grief," she shared.
Following the release of her single "My Jesus", the track peaked at #1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and the Christian Airplay chart. The track was also nominated for the Billboard Music Award for Top Christian Song award in 2022, the only female artist to be ever nominated for the said award. Billboard also named her as the Top New Christian Artist of 2021. She was also nominated for six GMA Dove Awards, winning Contemporary Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
Indeed, faith can move mountains. "I never imagined I'd be here tonight, standing on this stage and getting to be among all of you incredible artists. I want to thank my sweet brother in heaven who has inspired me," she said at the GMA Dove Awards. "That's why I do what I do, to honor Jacob, and I'm so grateful."
It doesn't stop there. Anne Wilson's music also became nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2023. Following the massive success of her debut LP "My Jesus", Anne followed it up with her second album "REBEL", released on April 19, 2024. The new album features her latest singles "Rain in the Rearview", "Strong", and "Songs About Whiskey".
"Having faith in the world that we live in today makes me feel a little bit like a rebel," she shared, as cited from Movieguide. "It’s like when we have faith, we’re the odd ones out. But yet the world can go talk about all these horrible subjects, and it’s welcomed and invited."
It's an album that puts out her true self - her passion for making His name known in her music. Defying stereotypes and judgements about her type of country-infused Christian music, she's all here to preach. "With this record, I felt really called to just preach the gospel point blank, share the truth, it is what it is," she said.
Now, don't miss out on her brave songs of faith at her very own Worship Night at Johnny Mercer Theatre this June 29th. Book your tickets now!
