Yes yes yes! You heard me correctly - RuPaul, the host of Rupaul's Drag Race, is bringing back the Werq The World Tour for an international showcase all throughout 2025 - and everyone’s invited! Us here at the Johnny Mercer Theatre in Savannah are so excited to welcome RuPaul and the RuPaul’s Drag Race team to the stage for a super special show right here down in Georgia. Deemed the Werq The World Tour 2025 series, the show will comprise of over fifty dates across North America - in places like Atlanta, New York City, Mexico City and Jalisco, and of course right here in Savannah.
RuPaul and RuPaul’s Drag Race is no stranger to the limelight. The show and the international mogul have taken LGBTQ+ culture to the forefront of day to day life, and the juggernauts behind the show and the drag race tour have taken their message to the big stage countless times. RuPaul has been a superstar since the early 90s, garnering attention with the hit single You Better Work, and then being a brand ambassador for MAC Cosmetics during the 90s AIDS epidemic. RuPaul was the first Drag Queen to get a major campaign with a makeup label, and he hasn’t stopped his domination of the drag queen world since. RuPaul’s Drag Race has had seventeen seasons throughout its airtime and multiple spin offs as well. RuPaul has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and back in 2017 was included in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the world. Considered the most famous drag queen alive right now, it makes sense RuPaul would want to bring his interpretation of the world on tour - but, what is the Werq The World Tour really about?!
Werq The World Tour 2025 is a spectacle guaranteed to bring the Divas and Queens right to us. Featuring amazing performances, it pays tribute to former drag queens who walked the catwalk before, and features cover performances by the team as well - like Jimbo as Joan Rivers, and Jaida Essence Hall doing some of Beyonce’s best songs, and even a Shakira sing along! With more surprises to come and a Red Pill Blue Pill scheme that will have us questioning whether we really want to live in reality - this show will be one you absolutely don’t want to miss out on.
