Ray LaMontagne recently wrapped up a successful spring tour of more than 20 dates in select major cities. Due to public demand, the folk wunderkind adds several more dates to perform his plethora of new songs to eager fans all over North America. There is no mystery why LaMontagne is one of the most prolific balladeers in the scene. His music has been a staple among romantic comedies since the early 2000s. With beguiling hits like “Within You,” “Lesson Learned,” and “Be Here Now,” LaMontagne’s music has become a TV series and film favorite. His tracks have filled the background during monumental scenes in renowned shows and films, including One Tree Hill, 27 Dresses, and She’s the Man, among others. Whatever your mood, LaMontagne probably has a song for it.
Ray LaMontagne’s success was hardly an overnight feat. His initiative to drop his day job and pursue music full time was ignited by Stephen Still’s megahit, “Treetop Flyer.” His professional music journey began in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2005 that he released his debut album, Trouble. True enough, the sacrifice was worth it when LaMontagne’s 2010 album God Willin’ and the Creek Don’t Rise won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Meanwhile, the album’s lead single, “Beg Steal or Borrow,” earned a Grammy nod for Song of the Year. In 2020, LaMontagne dropped his latest album, Monovision, which was well received by fans and critics. The album entered the charts in three countries, including the U.S.’s Billboard 200.
